According to Odaily Planet Daily, Filecoin Foundation and Lockheed Martin Space announced that they have successfully used a version of the Interstellar File System (IPFS) to achieve data transmission in space. The test was conducted on a satellite orbiting the Earth. Marta Belcher, president of the Filecoin Foundation, said that IPFS can effectively reduce the latency of space data transmission by addressing content and obtaining data from the most recent copy. The distributed architecture of IPFS helps to deal with data corruption caused by radiation and ensures data integrity through cryptographic verification, which is critical for data reliability in space environments.
