According to Cointelegraph, scammers mailed letters to Ledger crypto hardware wallet users, asking them to verify their private keys in order to gain access to their wallets. On April 29, technology commentator Jacob Canfield shared a scam letter disguised as Ledger on X, asking them to scan a QR code and enter their private key. The letter threatened that failure to complete the verification could result in limited access to the wallet and funds. Ledger responded by calling the letter a scam, reminding users to be wary of phishing and emphasizing that it would not ask for a 24-word recovery phrase. Canfield speculated that the incident was related to the Ledger data breach five years ago.
