According to PANews, the White House has directed the Department of Defense and NASA to gather detailed information on SpaceX's multi-billion dollar contracts following a public dispute between U.S. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Four sources informed Reuters that the U.S. government has commenced a review, instructing relevant agencies to scrutinize the contracts awarded to Musk and his company, potentially preparing for retaliatory measures. The Pentagon is also assessing whether to reduce SpaceX's involvement in the U.S. next-generation missile defense system project.

A White House spokesperson, responding to Reuters via email, did not address Musk's business issues but stated, "The Trump administration is committed to a rigorous review process for all bids and contract executions." Meanwhile, a NASA spokesperson declared that the agency "will continue to collaborate with industry partners to ensure the President's objectives in the space sector are achieved."

The sources indicated that the purpose of the contract review is to enable the government to respond swiftly should President Trump decide to take action against Musk. One insider remarked, "This review is preparing ammunition for a political battle."
