Uquid organizes a fundraising campaign on the Polygon network for the environment called EARTH Punk. The project occurs in the second half of March to celebrate Earth Hour, which is one of the biggest environmental events all around the world.

Uquid goals

The negative impacts of the blockchain industry on the environment have been a source of concern for many, leading to misconceptions and misunderstandings about the technology's potential. However, Uquid is committed to changing this narrative and demonstrating that blockchain can be a positive force for both the economy and the environment.

To promote eco-friendliness, Uquid will collaborate with a group of talented artists to create 35 unique NFTs. Each NFT will feature themes centered around rare animals, water conservation, and natural resource preservation. These NFTs will be minted on the Polygon blockchain, which is known for its eco-friendly technology. Through its use of sidechains and a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, the Polygon protocol significantly reduces energy consumption and lowers carbon footprints for blockchain transactions. This innovative technology allows for greater scalability and efficiency, while prioritizing sustainability.

Polygon Labs made its major first step toward becoming one of the greenest blockchains in existence in June with the retirement of $400,000 in carbon credits representing 104,794 tonnes of greenhouse gasses, or the entirety of the network’s CO2 debt since inception. The next milestone came September with the Merge. Ethereum’s transition to the proof of stake (PoS) consensus wiped out 60,000 tonnes of Polygon’s carbon footprint, making the already carbon neutral network even more sustainable and on the path to carbon negative as was expressed in its green manifesto.

EARTH Punk campaign

The EARTH Punk campaign, organized by Uquid on the Polygon network, aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote eco-friendly lifestyles. By selling these unique NFTs, the campaign will support environmental NGOs and create a positive impact on both the environment and society. This effort showcases the potential for NFTs to raise funds for environmental causes, encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices and promoting positive change.

The first phase of the NFT sale will take place on Opensea, a popular NFT marketplace, allowing for these unique NFTs to reach a wider audience. The second phase will feature unique NFTs, available exclusively on the NFTD marketplace, further supporting the campaign's goal of raising funds for environmental NGOs.
