Pakistan has reportedly lost an estimated $600 million to illegal cryptocurrency investments, severely draining the country’s dollar reserves. This capital flight is evidenced by a $1 billion drop in dollar purchases by banks from exchange companies this year. To curb the outflow of funds, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) recently ordered exchange companies to stop handing out cash dollars, making direct transfers to Foreign Currency accounts mandatory for dollar purchases, though the siphoning into crypto markets reportedly continues.

Japan’s 20% crypto tax sets a new bar in Asia, pressuring Singapore and Hong Kong as retail costs fall According to multiple reports from local media, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) is drafting a sweeping reclassification of digital assets that would bring Bitcoin, Ethereum, and around 100 other tokens under the same umbrella as stocks and investment funds. If the plan moves forward, Japan will treat these tokens as “financial products” starting in 2026, and with that comes a flat 20% tax, insider trading rules, and institutional pathways that could open the doors for banks, insurers, and public companies.
