Zcash ($ZEC ) reached an eight-year price peak of $388 on October 25, 2025, marking a 7.6% daily rise according to data. The rally pushed Zcash’s market capitalization to $6.2 billion, allowing it to overtake Monero (XMR) as the most valuable privacy-focused cryptocurrency by market cap.

Despite broader market weakness, ZEC surged 45% over the past week, a move many analysts attribute to macroeconomic uncertainty following failed U.S.–China tariff negotiations on Thursday. The resulting risk sentiment appears to have driven renewed interest in privacy assets and decentralized value storage.

Adding fuel to the momentum, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes predicted earlier in the week that Zcash could reach $10,000, publishing his forecast just days before the token’s sharp rally from $272 to $355 within hours.

On-chain data supports growing retail participation: the number of ZEC holding addresses rose 63% to 1,968 over the past week. However, analytics platform Nansen reported that whale wallets sold a net $702,000 in ZEC during the same period, suggesting profit-taking amid the sharp gains.

Zcash’s resurgence reinforces investor appetite for privacy-oriented crypto assets, even as the broader digital asset market faces regulatory pressure and macroeconomic volatility.
