According to BlockBeats, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has announced the collection of 1,000 signatures for a petition to the Lugano city government in Switzerland, seeking the restoration of a Satoshi Nakamoto statue that was thrown into a lake. The statue, located in Lugano, was stolen on August 3 and later retrieved from the lake that evening.
The statue was originally unveiled on October 25, 2024, in Lugano's Ciani Park (Villa Ciani) as a tribute to Bitcoin's anonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. This event was organized by Tether in collaboration with the city of Lugano under the Plan B initiative. The statue was designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, who dedicated 18 months to research and three months to its construction.
