Shib Alpha Layer Bridge Goes Live: BONE and TREAT Take on Targeted Roles

  • The Shib Alpha Layer Bridge also allows for the introduction of a distinct usefulness, where BONE drives Shibarium (Layer 2) and TREAT performs only transactions on the Shib Alpha Layer (Layer 3).

  • Distribution of gas functions to specific layers and technologies, such as OP Stack rollups and Elder.js, can help minimize congestion, fees, and the overall performance of the ecosystem.

  • As TREAT changes status and behaves as a fully functional utility token, it will be subject to continued demand due to its applications in dApp transactions and Layer 3 micro-transactions.

The Shiba Inu ecosystem once again announced the Shib Alpha Layer Bridge linking their current Layer 2 network, Shibarium, and a recently added Layer 3 solution, the Shib Alpha Layer. Such a bridge is a major improvement, as it is more modular and the roles of base tokens (BONE and TREAT) are well specified.

Targeted token functions enhance network design.

As the bridge is live, BONE will still be the only gas token in Shibarium, keeping all Layer 2 solutions and innovative contract activities. Its purpose is still intact since it offers developers and users a trusted platform on which to conduct their practices on the Layer 2 chain.

In the meantime, TREAT obtains an entirely new purpose of being the sole gas token on the Shib Alpha Layer. Such a transition will turn TREAT into a utility token, which will provide continuous demand by being used in Layer 3 processes like dApp interactions and micro-transactions. Successive layers of adding individual gas tokens allow controlling workloads more efficiently and improving system performance.

Enhanced Scalability Layer Architecture

In the Shib Alpha Layer, OP Stack rollups and Elder.js are utilized to transfer assets between the layers. The technologies provide secure, high-speed, and low-cost bridging, in line with the ecosystem vision of lowering the transaction fees paid by end users.

The new architecture decouples layered gas functionality and enables developers to create advanced applications at the Alpha Layer without the need to rely on Shibarium gas costs. The segregation removes the chances of network congestion and ensures that the rates are minimal on both levels. It simplifies the system’s management, thereby making it scalable in the long run.

Now that different responsibilities were assigned to BONE and TREAT, the ecosystem became closer to a more transparent and organized scheme. The upgrade is intended to serve developers and token holders through improved functionality, enhanced performance, and clarity in the network.
