Tezos expands into gaming thanks to its Layer-2 Etherlink, chosen by Distinct Possibility Studios for the launch of the AAA Shooter “REAPER ACTUAL”. The studio behind games like EverQuest has also raised 30.5 million dollars in a funding round.
Tezos in gaming: the L2 Etherelink for the new AAA Shooter “REAPER ACTUAL”
Tezos has captured an important Studio in the gaming sector, Distinct Possibility Studios, led by John Smedley, co-creator of genre games like EverQuest.
In practice, Distinct Possibility Studios would have chosen the Tezos L2 Etherlink to launch the new AAA Shooter game “REAPER ACTUAL”.
Reaper Actual is a pioneering open-world extraction Shooter set in Marova, a vast island involved in an ongoing conflict. Here, players take on the role of elite agents and face complex PvPvE (Player vs Player vs Environment) scenarios, territorial warfare, resource extraction, and base management.
The game is fully integrated into a sophisticated economy, based on blockchain. And here, the choice of Etherlink comes into play, thanks to its scalability, high transaction throughput, robust security, and eco-friendly practices.
Not only that, players will be able to create and trade rare items such as characters, bases, skins, and crafted items like weapons within the Reaper Actual ecosystem, via Etherlink.
Distinct Possibility Studios believes that providing the tools to create content will give rise to a much deeper community that can participate in the overall bull economy of the game.
Tezos in gaming: the enthusiasm of co-founder Arthur Breitman
A note of enthusiasm for this involvement of Etherlink in the gaming sector is expressed by the co-founder of Tezos, Arthur Breitman:

The Tezos Foundation is also participating in the funding round of AAA Shooter “REAPER ACTUAL”, along with Hashed, Delphi Ventures, Shima Capital, North Island Ventures, Decasonic, and others.
The Distinct Possibility Studios has raised a total of 30 million dollars, of which 5 million dollars were led primarily by Bitkraft and Brevan Howard Digital.
This funding round supports the accelerated development of REAPER ACTUAL, which will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store and via reaperactual.com at launch.
The introduction of Fast Withdrawals
At the end of last month, Tezos made headlines for introducing the fast Withdrawals feature, reducing the waiting times for fund transfers.
These are the transactions from Etherlink to Tezos Layer 1 that, for 15 days as before, now require only one minute of waiting to complete the operation.
This change aims to redefine the experience of using the blockchain, eliminating one of the most felt obstacles by users and developers.
In the meantime, the native crypto of Tezos, XTZ, seems to have recorded a price pump of +5% in the last few hours. At the time of writing, XTZ is worth $0.55.
