I have nothing but respect for @VitalikButerin, but focusing on upgrading @ethereum to RISC-V is a giant side quest and would be a colossal strategic mistake:

- Execution layer ossification and efficiency are goals in fundamental tension

- "zk" (or succinct) VMs all rely on special precompiles anyways

- RISC-V would do nothing to address @ethereum's DevEx and UX fragmentation problems or provide privacy-preserving apps, which people want way more than marginal efficiency gains

In my view, @ethereum should focus on something else, and time is running out for strategic vacillation.
