• ETH recorded 17,409,858 active addresses in one week, marking a 10.95% increase in user engagement.

  • Layer 2 activity reached a 7.50x multiplier, up 17.75% week-over-week.

  • Despite a 4.31% drop in multi-chain usage, total weekly engagement hit its highest point.

According to updated ecosystem metrics, Ethereum’s network has recorded its highest level of weekly engagement to date. During the latest seven-day period, 17,409,858 unique addresses interacted with one or more Ethereum chains. This figure represents a 10.95% increase in weekly active addresses and marks the most significant surge in participation since tracking began.

Total Activity Continues Upward Climb

The observation presents a multi-year overview of weekly address activity within the Ethereum ecosystem. Since early 2022 through mid-2023, concentration remained relatively stable.

However, beginning in the second half of 2023, the network started to see uniform growth. While nominal drops occurred in early 2024, the trend pointed upward. Activity began climbing more aggressively after mid-2024 and reached new highs in May 2025.

The chart's color-coded bars reflect different types of engagement across the ecosystem. A sharp increase in yellow bars during recent weeks indicates a rise in newer and more frequent interactions. The steady rise shows that user participation has accelerated alongside increasing interest in Layer 2 scalability solutions.

Layer 2 Multiplier Reaches New Peak

During the latest reporting period, Ethereum’s Layer 2 multiplier reached 7.50x. This represents a 17.75% increase over the prior week. The multiplier measures the proportion of Layer 2 activity in comparison to the mainnet. An increase in this metric confirms greater user migration toward Layer 2 chains, likely driven by lower fees and faster processing.

Despite this growth, the number of addresses interacting across multiple chains fell slightly. The total dropped to 590,411, reflecting a 4.31% decrease week-over-week. Still, the overall rise in unique address engagement has outpaced the minor decline in multi-chain activity

Engagement Surpasses Previous Highs

Recent data shows that Ethereum’s total user participation is now at its highest point since 2022. Weekly address count in May 2025 surpassed all previous periods shown in the dataset. This level of growth aligns with broader network developments and ongoing Layer 2 integration.

The recent spike builds upon steady trends observed in late 2024 and early 2025. While earlier stages showed stable participation, more dynamic increases began in recent months. These increases resulted in the sharpest rise yet seen in the chart’s history.

Visual analysis of the chart confirms continued expansion of Ethereum’s Layer 2 infrastructure. Engagement remains concentrated within the Ethereum ecosystem, though usage is diversifying across its chains. Metrics show a clear acceleration in activity, making the current period the most active to date.
