Before you even enter into a position you should have your entry tigger, invalidation, and take profit levels. While the trade is open, you’re a lot more likely to become emotional and “slightly” adjust things if it’s going great or poorly. These “slight” adjustments can quickly derail your initial trade idea. I know so many people who adjust their stop to “give it room” but end up losing double or triple what they initially risked - or bag holding for eternity. You want to do as much as you can while you’re at a level emotional state. The same happens for take profits. It’s SO easy to adjust it while the position is printing. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve adjusted my take profit levels higher, only for them to never fill and the position to fully retrace to entry. Do the most you can while you’re level emotionally. Anything after is a risk.
