The National Natural Science Foundation of China established the Management Science Department's emergency management project in 1997. This initiative primarily funds research that uses scientific methods to address urgent and critical issues in national macro-management and development strategies, as well as 'hot' and 'difficult' problems in economic, technological, and social development practices.
