According to Odaily, Telegram has announced that third-party crypto wallets must now utilize TON Connect and has restricted mini-programs to the TON blockchain. This decision has sparked concerns within the crypto community regarding decentralization and exclusivity. TON Connect serves as a communication protocol between wallets and applications within the TON ecosystem. This new requirement is part of Telegram's collaboration with the TON Foundation, making TON the sole blockchain network supported by its communication service. A spokesperson from the TON Foundation stated that wallets within Telegram remain unaffected as they are based on TON and only support TON Connect for decentralized application interactions. However, third-party wallets that do not adopt TON Connect will no longer be supported in the future.
