China’s housing market is still losing ground. In September, new home prices fell by 0.41 percent, the biggest drop in almost a year. It was also the twenty ninth month in a row that prices have gone down. Used homes fell even more, dropping 0.64 percent, the sharpest fall in a year. Prices fell in all seventy major cities, showing how wide the slowdown has become. Confidence is weak, buyers are staying away, and the government’s support has not yet been enough to turn things around.
