According to PANews, the U.S. House of Representatives has approved a temporary spending bill aimed at averting a federal government shutdown on October 1. The bill, which passed with a vote of 217 to 212, faces opposition in the Senate, where Democrats are expected to reject it due to concerns over healthcare spending. House Speaker Johnson managed to push the bill through despite dissatisfaction from some Republican colleagues, while House Democrats largely opposed it.

The Senate is set to review the House's bill alongside an alternative proposal from Democratic leader Schumer, which seeks to fund the government until October 31. Both versions are anticipated to face rejection, leaving the government at risk of a shutdown with less than two weeks until the deadline.
