According to a report by Deep Tide TechFlow, Panama City Mayor Mayer Mizrachi stated at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that he is considering establishing a Bitcoin strategic reserve for Panama City and is exploring the possibility of accepting Bitcoin for canal toll payments.
At Mizrachi's urging, Panama City has passed legislation allowing residents to pay taxes, parking fines, permits, and other fees using Bitcoin, Ethereum, and certain stablecoins. His inspiration comes from El Salvador's Bitcoin policy.
