According to ChainCatcher, 35 members of the U.S. House of Representatives wrote to the Department of Justice, requesting an investigation into President Trump’s private dinner for TRUMP Meme coin holders on May 22, alleging that it may violate the Constitution and federal law.

Lawmakers pointed out that most of the participants were suspected to be foreign citizens, and such contacts could become a channel for foreign governments to influence US policies. The Democrats promoted legislation to restrict senior government officials and their relatives from accessing cryptocurrencies and amend the (GENIUS Act).

Legal experts said that if the Justice Department determines that the dinner constitutes a transfer of foreign benefits, it could trigger constitutional litigation.
