According to BlockBeats, on May 19th, Vitalik posted on the ethresear forum to discuss how to scale the Ethereum main chain (L1) and reduce the difficulty for individual users to run nodes, in order to maintain decentralization and user privacy.

The article proposes a multi-layered strategy, including short-term (EIP-4444, distributed storage, gas price adjustments), medium-term (stateless validation), and long-term (partial stateless nodes) measures to reduce the resource requirements for Ethereum local nodes.

The new node model features partial stateless nodes that validate blocks through stateless validation and verify the entire chain, but only store the portions of state relevant to the user, responding to related RPC requests; other requests may fail or require external cryptographic solutions.
