According to PANews, Slow Mist founder Yu Xian stated that the 'fake Ledger' scam has re-emerged recently. Attackers are mailing users counterfeit Ledger devices, along with fake instructions, guiding users to input the mnemonic phrases from their real Ledger into a fake application, resulting in asset theft. This type of attack has had cases as early as 2021, with variants including pre-set mnemonic phrases or tampered random number generators for fraud. Experts remind that although such physical-layer phishing attacks seem rare, their success rate is not low, and they often target high-net-worth users.
