According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on May 19, renowned musician Elton John criticized the UK government's AI copyright reform plan, calling it a "massive theft" from artists. The plan allows AI developers to use creative works for AI model training without explicit permission.

John stated in a BBC interview that the danger young artists face is their lack of resources to compete with large tech companies. He, along with over 400 artists including Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, and Dua Lipa, signed a letter to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling for a revision of the (Data (Usage and Acquisition) Bill) to demand transparency in the sources of training data for AI models.
