According to a report by Cointelegraph, scammers mailed letters to users of the Ledger hardware wallet, requesting verification of their private keys to gain access to their wallets. On April 29, tech commentator Jacob Canfield shared a scam letter disguised as Ledger on X, asking recipients to scan a QR code and enter their private keys. The letter threatened that failure to complete the verification could result in restricted access to the wallet and funds. Ledger responded by calling the letter a scam, warning users to be vigilant against phishing attempts, and emphasizing that they will never ask for a 24-word recovery phrase. Canfield speculated that this incident is related to the Ledger data breach that occurred five years ago.
