According to Cointelegraph, two men charged with kidnapping and torturing a cryptocurrency holder visiting New York City have pleaded not guilty to all charges. At a hearing on Wednesday in New York's Supreme Criminal Court, John Woeltz and William Duplessie pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment of Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan. The two are accused of abducting the tourist and attempting to gain access to his cryptocurrency wallet through methods such as electric shocks and beatings. Judge Gregory Carro ordered that the two be held without bail, as they could face life imprisonment if convicted. A trial date has not yet been set. Reports state that Woeltz and Duplessie held Carturan in an apartment in SoHo for about three weeks, trying to make him reveal his seed phrase. The cryptocurrency wallet holder eventually escaped and called the police.
