According to PANews, the BNB Chain's Maxwell network upgrade was launched on June 30, 2025, aiming to significantly enhance transaction speed, network responsiveness, and validator communication on the BSC. The upgrade includes three major proposals: BEP-524, BEP-563, and BEP-564, each focusing on optimizing performance and scalability.

BEP-524 introduces faster block intervals, reducing block time from 1.5 seconds to 0.8 seconds, enabling near-instant transaction confirmation and improving user experience for DeFi and GameFi applications. BEP-563 strengthens the validator consensus process by enhancing peer-to-peer messaging and reducing the risk of missed votes and synchronization delays. BEP-564 introduces two new message types, GetBlocksByRangeMsg and RangeBlocksMsg, to accelerate data synchronization across validator nodes.

The Maxwell upgrade comes at a pivotal moment as BNB Chain achieves a new milestone in decentralized exchange (DEX) activity. For the second consecutive month, BNB Chain has led all blockchains in daily DEX trading volume. Data from DeFiLlama indicates that BSC's 30-day DEX trading volume in June exceeded $165 billion, surpassing the combined volumes of Ethereum and Solana. This marks the highest monthly DEX trading volume in BNB Chain's history.
