Alarm in Seoul!
Upbit, the Korean Giant, has suffered a hack
$36.8 Million in Tokens of #solana Stolen in the Early Morning
The Asian cryptocurrency market woke up to shocking news: Upbit, the leading exchange in South Korea, has suffered an "abnormal" withdrawal of assets worth approximately $36.8 million (54.000 billion won).
The incident occurred around 4:42 a.m. (Korea time) on Thursday.
Target: Solana Network: The attack focused on a variety of tokens within the Solana ecosystem, including its own #sol and a long list of assets such as #JUP , #PYTH , #render , BONK, USDC, and JTO, which were withdrawn to an unidentified external wallet.
Rapid Containment Response: After detecting the leak, Upbit immediately suspended all deposits and withdrawals. The platform has moved 100% of the remaining assets to a cold wallet to secure its users' capital.
Partial Recovery: The firm reported initial success in freezing $8.18 million of the stolen LAYER tokens and is coordinating with other projects and authorities to freeze the rest of the funds.
