The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the largest seizure of Bitcoin in its history: 127,271 BTC linked to an international scam network led by Chen Zhi. This operation was formalized through a civil suit in the Eastern District of New York, backed by the Department of the Treasury (OFAC) and British authorities.
The executive order signed by President Donald Trump in March 2025 establishes the creation of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, marking a shift in the policy of managing seized assets.
With this action, the U.S. accumulates more than 325,000 BTC, positioning itself as the largest state holder of Bitcoin.
