The Senate confirms the appointment of Jonathan McKiernan as Deputy Secretary of Local Finance

According to Cointelegraph, the U.S. Senate confirmed the appointment of Jonathan McKiernan as Deputy Secretary of Local Finance at the Treasury Department. In a close vote of 51 to 47, McKiernan will work under Secretary Scott Bisent. Despite the ongoing government shutdown, which began after lawmakers failed to extend funding past September 30, Congress continues to operate in some capacities. McKiernan, who was appointed by President Donald Trump in June, expressed his opposition to banking deregulation policies, although he did not directly link these practices to digital assets. In a post of his in December on platform X, he referred to an article by economist Tyler Cowen, questioning the integration of the U.S. banking system with cryptocurrencies. As Deputy Secretary, McKiernan will assist Bisent with economic issues, following in the footsteps of his predecessors who addressed topics such as central bank digital currency and collaboration with the Federal Reserve and FDIC on banking policies. Previously, McKiernan held a position at the FDIC and was initially nominated to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau before President Trump withdrew his nomination in May.#BNBmemeszn #KlinkBinanceTGE #BNBMarketCapThirdLargest #BNBBreaksATH #WhaleWatch $BTC $ETH $BNB
