The long Solana streak has ended as BNB Chain has risen back to the top spot in active addresses amid the frenzy
BNB Chain regained the top spot in September as the leading blockchain in terms of active addresses, after recording 52.5 million users.
This increase has allowed it to surpass 51.8 million songs for NEAR Protocol and 45.8 million songs for Solana, marking the first time the latter has been dethroned since August 2024.

Interestingly, BNB Chain surpassed Solana in terms of daily chain fees, maintaining the lead for three consecutive days last month. The renewed momentum of BNB Chain is largely attributed to the buzz surrounding Aster, which sparked significant user engagement and boosted chain activity across the ecosystem.
On October 4th, the total value of Aster assets reached $2.34 billion, an increase of 570% from its value of $347 million, according to data collected by DefiLlama. This remarkable growth indicates an increasing number of users utilizing Aster for decentralized trading and yield farming.
While the first layer of the BNB chain recorded a 22% increase in active addresses last month, the second layer expansion solution OpBNB, built on the OP stack, saw a notable increase of 66.4% during the same period. In a related context, analyst Darkfrost stated that:
All this makes it superior to chains like BSC, Solana, and even Ethereum. The interest in it is clear right now.
The increasing demand for the BNB Chain ecosystem, along with dwindling supply and rising liquidity on the chain, has pushed the BNB token to record levels.
