Ethereum founder boldly claims: ETH can rise 100 times is not a dream
Joseph Lubin is indeed very aggressive this time, directly stating that the price of ETH may increase 100 times. As a co-founder of Ethereum, his words carry significant weight.
What does 100 times mean? Currently, ETH is approximately $3500, so 100 times would be $350,000 each. It sounds like a fantasy, but Lubin's logic is quite clear. He believes that Ethereum is not just a cryptocurrency, but the operating system of the entire decentralized world. When Wall Street truly understands and accepts this, a repricing is inevitable.
What is the key argument? It is the network effect of Ethereum. Over 60% of DeFi protocols are currently built on Ethereum, with a locked value exceeding $50 billion. This is just the beginning. Once Ethereum 2.0 is fully implemented, with improved transaction speeds and lower Gas fees, more traditional financial products will be moved onto the blockchain. By that time, Ethereum will not be valued as it is now.
The development of Layer 2 is also an important driving force. Layer 2 networks like Arbitrum and Optimism have solved Ethereum's scalability issues. Just like the internet transitioned from dial-up to fiber optic connections, improvements in infrastructure can lead to an explosion of applications. Lubin sees the enormous potential post this infrastructure upgrade.
Of course, the figure of 100 times may be somewhat optimistic. But even if we tone it down, there is still room for 10 times or 20 times. After all, the entire cryptocurrency market is only $3 trillion, compared to the scale of global stock and bond markets, there is indeed a lot of growth potential.
Corporate adoption is another variable. More and more large companies are starting to use Ethereum for supply chain management and digital identity authentication. Once this B-end demand takes off, it will provide very strong support for the coin price.
Whether Lubin's prophecy can come true is uncertain, but the direction he points to is correct: the value of Ethereum has yet to be fully discovered. $ETH
