According to Odaily, the U.S. Department of Justice has charged Iurii Gugnin, founder of Evita Pay, with facilitating transactions worth approximately $530 million using USDT from June 2023 to January 2025. These transactions allegedly helped Russia acquire American products in collaboration with a sanctioned Russian bank. Gugnin faces 22 charges and could face life imprisonment if convicted.
