🎯 PRIVACY IN ZK ON STELLAR: THE REVOLUTIONARY PROTOCOL X-RAY 🎯

Stellar has just launched Protocol X-Ray, a groundbreaking development that introduces privacy natively into the Stellar network without the need for Layer 2 solutions or sidechains.

This upgrade directly integrates two key zero-knowledge (ZK) primitives: the BN254 curve, an industry standard for ZK proofs, and the Poseidon and Poseidon2 hashing functions, both optimized for ZK circuits.

Thanks to this, developing ZK applications on Soroban (Stellar's smart contract platform designed to add programmability to the network and enable the development of complex decentralized applications - dApps) becomes faster, cheaper, and simpler, opening up advanced privacy smart contract capabilities for Stellar.

The BN254 curve is the most commonly used base in ZK systems like Polygon, Mina, and zkSync, and the fact that it is now natively supported by Stellar means that the most widely used ZK tools and frameworks can be immediately utilized on Soroban, increasing developer adoption.

Poseidon is the preferred hashing function in ZK systems as it is fast and has low gas costs, ideal for structures like Merkle trees and mixers, thereby unlocking new privacy tools that were previously unattainable.

With Protocol X-Ray, Stellar now enables the development of private DeFi, encrypted identity proofs, auditable yet confidential payments, on-chain verifications of off-chain computations, ZK-powered bridges, and applications with selective disclosure.

The testnet is scheduled for January 7 and the mainnet for January 22, 2026, with no long-term waits.

This upgrade positions Stellar at the center of the 2025 narratives on privacy, ZK scaling, and L1 expansion, making XLM much more competitive than the current market perceives.
