Have you ever encountered such absurd and painful situations,
You see the direction correctly, the market indeed rises, but the account balance keeps dropping?
You think you're unlucky; in fact, you didn't lose to the market, you lost to the rules of the contract.
I was educated this way back in the day as well.
That time I went long on BTC, my judgment was completely correct. The market surged up, unrealized profits rose from 2000 to 6000, my heart raced as if it were about to leap out of my throat.
I even started to fantasize whether this trade could push my account to new heights.
Just when I was about to “witness a miracle”!
Bang!
A long needle fell from the sky on the screen. The price instantly pierced the stop-loss level, and my position was liquidated in a second. A few minutes later, the market obediently returned to my entry point, as if that needle had never existed.
And I had already been kicked out, with no qualification to even dream!
I stared at the screen, and only one sentence remained in my mind: I was harvested!
Only later did I truly understand: contracts are never a game of “making money just by seeing the right direction.”
What it plays with is the rules, the rhythm, whether you can resist being led by emotions.
On the surface, you are betting on rises and falls, but in reality, you are competing with the liquidation line, funding rate, order book algorithms, and liquidation mechanisms.
The market does not prevent you from making money; it is designed to let you! Earn a little and run, lose a little and explode.
Those who can truly survive and steadily grow their money share three common traits:
1· They do not guess the direction, they only calculate probabilities.
2· They do not chase the market, they only control their positions.
3· What they think before placing an order is not “how much can I earn”
But: “How much can I lose at most and still sleep well?”
After I lost that 100,000, I finally woke up: Contracts are not about talent; they are about rationality; they are not about passion; they are about rules.
Now every time I open a position, the first thing I do is not to look at the market, but to first lock in the risk: position, expectations, rhythm, all calculated in advance.
I no longer fantasize about “getting rich overnight.” I only strive for one thing, to live a little longer!
Because in contracts, only those who truly survive have the qualification to talk about making money, and even more qualifications to talk about turning things around!
