AAVE has experienced intense selling in the last few days, with the token dropping by over 11% within the last 24 hours and almost 22% for the week. The drop, which started after hitting $264 this week, saw prices drop to a low of $210 before settling around $214 at the time of writing.

Whales Trigger Massive Sell-Off

Large investors—commonly known as whales—have been the focal point of the recent downturn. On-chain reports indicate that two large wallets recently liquidated a combined 158,227 AAVE worth approximately $35.5 million. Such heavy liquidation during a bearish trend usually indicates waning confidence among big investors, further accelerating downward momentum.

Historically, when whales decrease exposure, their followers, retail traders, increase their exposure in response, establishing a feedback loop that increases sell pressure. In recent spot trading activity, this has been confirmed by continued negative volume imbalances on multiple consecutive sessions.

Weaker Market Structure and Increasing Exchange Inflows

Signs are that token transfers to trading platforms have risen in the last few days—generally a bearish trend, as it represents an eagerness to sell instead of hold. In conjunction with AAVE falling below its short-term and long-term moving averages, the market is in the process of correcting with sparse buyer support.

Can Bulls Hold $202?

Technically, AAVE is drawing near the lower end of its current trend channel at around $209, with $202 as the next key support. If losses persist, prices may test or even breach this level.

For a recovery to happen, bulls must recapture the $244–$258 zone, a region that coincides with short-term exponential moving averages. Recapturing this area should restore confidence and redirect momentum back to the upside.

Until that, however, AAVE continues to face pressure, as the overall market closely observes if $202 holds or if it is deeper losses in store.
