Asia Morning Briefing: $BTC Mining Industry Not Concerned About New Trump Tariffs The recent round of U.S. tariffs on the semiconductor industry doesn’t seem to worry the Bitcoin mining industry. Major chip manufacturers like Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) and Samsung are exempt from the new tariffs thanks to their U.S. investments. Bitcoin has dropped from its $123K all-time high and is now trading at $117,386.04, showing some signs of short-term consolidation. Ethereum, on the other hand, is up by 6.43%, trading at $3,905.42, and could reach $4K soon, thanks to increased capital flow into $ETH .

$ETH Is Making a Strong Comeback Ethereum has had quite the year. It started January at around $3,685 but dropped to a low of $1,470 by April 9. Since then, ETH has bounced back with an impressive 163% gain, reaching $3,870. One of the big reasons behind this rebound is the rise of ETH treasury firms, which have helped boost the token’s price. This rally has allowed ETH to close the gap on Bitcoin and Solana, the leaders of the current bull market.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of $ETH , has expressed support for Ether treasury companies, but he also warned that the trend could become risky if handled poorly. In a recent interview, he said that more public companies holding Ether is beneficial because it helps expose the token to more investors. He believes these companies provide useful services and give people more options, especially those with different financial situations. The rise of crypto treasury firms, which buy and hold large amounts of crypto like $BTC and Ether, has become a popular trend on Wall Street. However, Buterin cautioned that too much borrowing or leverage could harm Ethereum's future. He explained that a drop in ETH’s price could lead to forced sales, driving the price even lower and hurting its reputation. Still, Buterin is confident that Ethereum investors are responsible enough to prevent such a collapse, saying they’re not like the followers of Do Kwon, the co-founder of the failed Terra blockchain.

The legal battle between the SEC and Ripple is finally over. Both parties have agreed to drop their appeals, and each will cover their own costs. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse had already shared in June that the company wanted to put this behind them and focus on building the "Internet of Value." With the appeals dropped, the 2023 court ruling stands. The court decided that $XRP sales to institutional investors were illegal but ruled in Ripple's favor when it came to sales to retail investors. Following this news, XRP's price jumped by 7%, going from $3.04 to $3.27.
