US trade deficit shrinks sharply

In April, the US goods trade deficit fell to $87.6B — the smallest since September.

Imports dropped by a record $68.4B amid new tariffs, while exports hit an all-time high at $188.5B.

A sharp turnaround from March, when companies rushed to import goods ahead of expected tariff hikes.
