According to PANews, a class action lawsuit has been filed with the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal, accusing Google of abusing its near-total dominance in the search market to restrict competitors and inflate advertising costs. The lawsuit, led by legal scholar Or Brook, represents UK organizations that have used Google's search advertising services since January 1, 2011, and seeks over £5 billion in damages. The complaint alleges that Google has engaged in anti-competitive practices by making agreements with mobile manufacturers and Apple, and by limiting the functionality of competing advertising tools, thereby unlawfully manipulating the market.
