Zero-knowledge proofs have always been one of blockchain’s most powerful ideas — and one of its hardest to use. For years, ZK promised a future of privacy, security, and limitless scalability. But in practice, it felt out of reach for most builders.
That’s the gap Boundless set out to close.
Through an ambitious developer tour spanning Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Shenzhen, Boundless turned what was once the most complex area of Web3 into something approachable, practical, and — for the first time — plug-and-play.
From Complexity to Creativity
Before Boundless, building with ZK meant diving deep into cryptographic theory, circuit design, and custom toolchains. Even the best engineers faced months of setup before seeing a single working proof.
Each blockchain came with its own isolated ZK stack, forcing teams to duplicate work across ecosystems. Ethereum, Solana, and others all spoke different languages. The result was predictable — fragmentation, frustration, and slow innovation.
By 2024, fewer than 300 development teams globally had real zero-knowledge experience.
Boundless decided that was unacceptable. Its mission: to make ZK as simple and seamless as deploying a smart contract.
The Boundless Formula: Standardize Everything
The company’s breakthrough came with a framework it calls the Full-Stack Standardized ZK Matrix — a modular collection of tools that connects ZK computation with real-world developer workflows.
At its center is Steel, a zero-knowledge co-processor for EVM-compatible environments. Steel lets developers offload compute-heavy operations to zkVMs, slashing gas usage by up to 99.99% — all without changing a line of Solidity.
Then comes OP Kailua, Boundless’s hybrid ZK layer for Optimistic Rollups. It dramatically reduces finalization time — from a week to just a few hours — without requiring teams to rebuild their infrastructure.
Together, they create something unprecedented: a standardized, production-ready toolkit that turns ZK from a theory into a product.
Four Cities, One Community
The real magic, though, happened on the road.
In early 2025, Boundless joined forces with TinTinLand to host a four-city ZK developer tour across China. Nearly a thousand developers attended — from students to startup founders to enterprise engineers — all eager to explore what ZK could really do.
Hands-on workshops replaced lectures. Teams built prototypes in hours. And Boundless engineers worked side by side with participants to answer questions and refine tools.
Online, the movement grew even faster. The Boundless community — completely open-source and transparent — became a global co-lab. Over 60% of all merged code now comes from contributors outside the core team.
In one standout example, a local dev group optimized proof efficiency by 30%. The Boundless team merged their update into the live codebase the same week.
This wasn’t corporate outreach — it was grassroots collaboration.
From Local Tours to Global Impact
What started as a China-based activation quickly became a global foundation for ZK innovation.
Boundless now supports major networks including Ethereum, Base, and Stellar, creating a true “build once, deploy anywhere” environment.
Projects across the ecosystem are already running with it:
BOB, a hybrid Bitcoin Rollup, used Boundless to make EVM apps interoperable with Bitcoin.
Wormhole leveraged Boundless to add zero-knowledge verification to cross-chain transfers, combining speed with verifiable trust.
What used to be an ecosystem divided by tooling and theory is becoming a unified network of interoperable, proof-based systems
Why Boundless Matters
Boundless isn’t chasing hype. It’s doing the quiet, difficult work of transforming ZK into an accessible, everyday technology.
It’s replacing cryptographic complexity with developer-first simplicity.
It’s turning communities into co-creators, not consumers.
And it’s building bridges across chains that used to be walled gardens.
When developers everywhere can use ZK without friction, blockchain stops being limited by its past. It becomes scalable, private, and verifiable by default.
That’s the world Boundless is building — one proof, one workshop, one city at a time.
Boundless. Plug in. Build out. Go beyond.
