🛡 $AAVE one step closer to recovery: Kelp DAO hacker’s positions liquidated
The Aave protocol has successfully liquidated the remaining positions of the Kelp DAO hacker in rsETH tokens on the Ethereum and Arbitrum networks. This is a key step in the “DeFi United” plan to cover losses from the large-scale hack on April 18.
The main thing at the moment:
• Debt almost closed: According to the vice president of Galaxy Digital, Aave only needs to restore 10% of the funds to fully secure rsETH.
• Funds are safe: Aave users were not affected, and the Umbrella insurance mechanism did not even have to be activated.
• Legal red tape: About 30,765 ETH are currently frozen by the Arbitrum DAO. Despite community support (90% “in favor” of unfreezing), the process is being slowed down by a lawsuit from lawyers Gerstein Harrow LLP.
• Market calms down: After a TVL drop of $12 billion due to panic, the outflow of funds has stopped. Currently, Aave's TVL has crossed the $15 billion mark again. Next up is waiting for help from big players (Circle, Ethena, Frax) to finally "patch the hole" of $190 million in bad debt.
