Donald Trump Denies Profiting from $TRUMP Meme Coin, Distances Himself from Price Surge

In a recent interview with NBC, former U.S. President Donald Trump clarified that he has not made any profit from the $TRUMP meme coin and insisted he’s never tracked its price. The statement comes amid rising speculation after the token’s wild price movements.

Launched on January 18, the $TRUMP coin saw a dramatic surge to $77 before crashing over 85% to trade near $11. When pressed about the token’s price spike—especially following a campaign that offered dinner with the top holder—Trump responded, “I have no idea how much it went up.”

Rejecting claims of financial gain from his political platform, Trump stated, “I don’t make a profit from anything. I was already very rich—being president actually cost me money.” He framed his stance on cryptocurrency as a strategic move, emphasizing, “If we don’t embrace crypto, China will. It’s popular, resilient, and even holding strong in a down market.”

Trump also took a jab at political rivals, pointing out that “people like Nancy Pelosi” have amassed significant wealth despite government salaries, positioning them—not him—as the real profiteers. He wrapped up by comparing himself to George Washington, suggesting he’s standing up for innovation in America.

As the meme coin craze continues to blend politics and crypto, market watchers remain cautious about the intersection of influence and token speculation.
